PNLE Application Guide

Everything you need to apply for the Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination through the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) — requirements, steps, fees, and exam-day tips.

Who can take the PNLE?

  • A graduate of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from a CHED-recognized institution.
  • A Filipino citizen, or a foreign national qualified under reciprocity rules.
  • Of good moral character and not convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude.

How to apply, step by step

Prepare your documents

Gather everything before you go online so your application isn’t delayed.

  • PSA (PSA/NSO) Birth Certificate
  • Transcript of Records (TOR) with scanned photo and the remark "For Board Examination Purposes," plus your Special Order number (if applicable)
  • Valid government-issued ID
  • Documentary stamps
  • Passport-size / 2×2 ID photos (white background, collared attire, with nametag)
  • Marriage certificate (if you have a married name)

Create your PRC online account (LERIS)

Register at the PRC Online Services portal (online.prc.gov.ph). Fill in your personal details and upload your photo and e-signature.

Set an appointment & select the exam

Choose "Nurse Licensure Examination," then pick an available examination date and your preferred region/venue.

Pay the examination fee

Pay the PRC examination fee (around ₱900, plus a small processing fee) through an accredited channel — GCash, online banking, or over-the-counter at Bayad/partner centers.

Print your Notice of Admission (NOA)

Once your payment posts, download and print your NOA / exam permit. It shows your school, building, room, and seat assignment.

Take the exam

Report to your assigned venue early on both exam days with your NOA and requirements (see the exam-day checklist below).

The exam

  • • Held over 2 days.
  • • Covers Nursing Practice I–V (NP1–NP5).
  • • 100 items per subject — 500 questions total.
  • • Usually offered twice a year (commonly around mid-year and late in the year).

How to pass

  • A general weighted average of at least 75%.
  • No rating below 60% in any of the five subjects.

Exam-day checklist

  • Notice of Admission (NOA) / exam permit
  • Valid government-issued ID (same one used in your application)
  • Several No. 2 / Mongol 2 pencils and a black ballpen
  • Prescribed attire (typically all-white; check your NOA)
  • Arrive early — late examinees are not admitted
  • No phones or smart devices inside the testing room

After the exam

The PRC releases results, typically within a few days to a couple of weeks. Once you pass, you’ll complete oath-taking and then register to receive your Professional Identification Card (PIC) and PRC license number — officially making you a Registered Nurse.
